Possibility that al-Qaida-inspired Islamist militants had already planned the deadly attack in Libya’s second city to coincide with Sept. 11
U.S. Ambassador to Libya Christopher Stevens died during Tuesday night’s attack on the U.S. Consulate in the eastern Libyan city of Benghazi. NBC News reported that authorities said Wednesday that they could not rule out the possibility that al-Qaida-inspired Islamist militants had already planned the deadly attack in Libya’s second city to coincide with Sept. 11. This hints that the U.S. Government believes that an organized group of terrorists were responsible for the death of Christopher Stevens not a mob.
However many news outlets are offering an alternative view that suggests Stevens may not have been a predetermined political target. Many reports suggest that the death was the result of tension and anti U.S. sentiment in the Arabic states citing that the bloodshed followed protests over an anti-Islamic film called “Innocence of Muslims”.
The U.S. Government has condemned the killing of U.S. ambassador to Libya and three other officials who died when an armed mob attacked the U.S. consulate in the city of Benghazi. The cause of death for Christopher Stevens is believed to have been smoke inhalation as the consulate building was reportedly set on fire.
Below is what is believed to be the movie that aroused anger among Muslims in Egypt. The movie has been called the motivation of protesters to kill United States ambassador, J Christopher Stevens. The film, financed by Nakoula Bassely Nakoula, insinuates that Islam is a lie and that Muhammad was a pedophile.
The actors involved may not have willingly participated in a bigoted film. It appears that after the filming was completed the editor dubbed over the actors’ lines to change the names to Muhammad, etc. and make the characters say provocative things about Islam and Muslims.
Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has labeled the anti-Islamic video as “disgusting.”
