Nicki Minaj: “When you invite somebody to your home, you treat them with respect.”
Peter Rosenberg, a host on the morning show dissed Nicki Minaj in the name of real Hip-Hop. Nicki called Funkmaster Flex to respond:
Summary: After YMCMB cancelled Nicki Minaj’s Hot 97 Summer Jam performance, Nicki Minaj went on the air with Funk Master Flex and explained why she didn’t make an appearance.
Nicki Minaj said that word had gotten around that Peter Rosenberg made disparaging remarks about Nicki Minaj’s music. Rosenberg referred to her music as “bullshit.”
Nicki also defended her fans stating that her fans didn’t appreciate Rosenberg’s comments. She said that Rosenberg’s statements went international the moment he said them said live on the air. “Flex, this was not about 2,000 people that he was talking to. This was streamed to the world”
“Flex, its not about his [Rosenberg's] opinion, because I have opinions about DJS at Hot 97 and Hot 97. Everybody is grown enough to keep their opinions to themselves. When you disrespect Nicki Minaj, your are disrespecting my fans. Don’t make those three million people feel that they are inferior for their personal taste in music.”
Nicki also responded to disparaging remarks made by Flex that the streets aren’t with her by listing her album sales. Nicki made it clear the she has outsold any previous female rap recording artist and reiterated that her second album has sold 900,000 copies and 3,000,000 singles.
